My husband and I looked at each other and cracked up…what were we to do?  Should we allow our son to get the pink girlie Valentines, or should we push him more toward the Spiderman section?

I’m not proud to say this, but Gaetano put the Dora cards back and helped Gianni pick out some boy Valentine’s.  What would you have done? I understand little G is only 16 months old, but would it have been appropriate to let him take Dora cards to his classmates? They were pink with glitter on them.

Who would have thought Valentine’s Day would bring such dilemmas. This wasn’t in the parenting books or mom videos... (P.S. Gianni wanted a Dora nightgown the other day when we were shopping. Should I have let him get that too??)

Listen, I think your boy is on the right track. He knows what the girls want! Pink and glittery! It's like toddler jewelry. As for the nightgown...go luck with that. www.buenobaby.com

I say go for it! All boys dress in drag at some point. Better now than later. Of course, not there's anything wrong with that!!! :) (Stolen from a famous Seinfeld episode) But seriously, my boys loved the color pink for a while. Now they've settled into a nice shade of blue, purple and black. (Could be from all the bruises) www.theguysperspective.com/theguysblog

Hahah. Thanks Mr. Guy Perspective! I'll have to share this with my hubby--a very manly man, but still in touch with his emotional side (due to his European upbringing). www.misscapatosta.com

Yes you should have let him get the Dora cards for cryin' out loud, and yeah, what's wrong with a dora nightgown? He LOVES Dora, and why shouldn't he? I don't think "helping" your kid pick out valentines for his class was helping him at all. And unless the Dora nightgown was insanely expensive (as such things can be...we had a Dora explosion here, also Hello Kitty, also Rescue Heros...tell me, should I have discouraged my four year old DAUGHTER from her obsession with Rescue Heros?)
