Here's the current viral video making the rounds.  A dad films his kid after getting goofy gas at the dentist.

Potentially embarrassing to the child or harmless yuks?  Would you post a video like this on the Internet?

Wow. I do find it disturbing. Actually almost abusive. I can see I will be in the minority here though. I am not judging anyone else! Here is what I saw: 1. "is this real life?" a child who can not figure out what is happening to him is very vulnerable, not just to being taped, but to fear 2. "I can't see anything" he is freaked out by this! 3. "is this forever?" he can not distinguish what is real from what is not and he is afraid that it will never go away! This kid was seriously spaced out. I know it is funny. To family, and probably to him later on. But to film him and then distribute it is taking advantage of that child vulnerable state. I htink it is very wrong. just my two cents

Uh, no. I wouldn't gas my kid to begin with...I'd go the much less humane route of stabbing with a needle. Unless I could have them give him enough gas to knock him out for a few hours. And then we're talking a different story.

I don't understand a) why this video is so popular and b) why it bugs so many people. It's cute and funny and all, but really not that special. I've been high post-operation before too, big deal. But also, it's not as if the father drugged him with something illegal for the sole purpose of making the video. No. He took advantage of the funny situation and made a video of it. The kid will probably think it's hilarious when he's 16, and also cool that he was Internet famous for a week.

i think people are making a bigger deal out of it than it really is. i giggled when i saw it. my husband laughed when he saw it, so i guess that makes us uncool parents(?) i mean, c'mon. i'm with kristen on this one, it seems harmless. it's not like the adult drugged the child in some fucked up way with some fucked up intentions and then posted it.

I agree with Bubbables. I watched that video waiting for the really funny thing to happen. That said, I don't see the problem with posting videos like that. I don't post pictures of Erin in any sort of undress (including just with her shirt off) I don't post bath time photos and there will be other things I wont do as she gets older BUT I really don't see the problem with that.

My daughter, who I think is around the same age as this kid, would probably laugh like a hyena at herself once she straightened out, like Kristen said. However, there's no way I'd ever put it out for public consumption - what can come of strangers watching your kid at a vulnerable time?

Personally, I wouldn't post a video of my family in a diminished capacity. However, I would imagine the boy LOVED this video once he sobered up and is not embarrassed by it in the least. As long as the child is consulted and it is a unified family decision to post something, it seems harmless.

I can't figure out what was so special about the video that made over a million people want to view it?
