Low on the cash flow? Don't you know that it's the thought that counts? So take a bit of time to make a homemade gift straight from the heart (and your fingertips) for your loved ones. These projects take a short period of time but will be greatly appreciated due to your thoughtfulness.
1. Cookie or Brownie in a Jar

Your baker friends and family will always appreciate the cookie in a jar. Not only are they beautiful like sand art, but they're practical. If you use fresh ingredients, the mix can last up to 6 months on the shelf. And if you happen to stop by when your pal is making the cookies, so much the better.
2. Handmade Sugar Scrubs

Who doesn't like a little bath indulgence? Find a recipe for a yummy sugar scrub, put it in a beautiful jar, and give as a gift. You can even make labels with the name of your "company" on them.
3. Create a T-Shirt

If you're the artsy type, you can transform a plain t-shirt into a customized shirt by printing out your design on transfer paper and ironing it on. Or you can use a photo of a city, your kids, or your friend's cats. Or dogs. You get the picture (no pun intended).
4. Candy

Do you love to cook? Do you know people who love candy? (OK, of course you do!). Then try your hand at candy making (if you haven't already). All you need is a candy thermometer and a little patience, and you have an endless supply of candies to make: turtles, fudge, rock candy... Dress them up in a pretty box, and your gift will be a hit.
5. Framed Photos

Print out your family photos or photos of your loved ones, and frame them. You can even make the frame by purchasing an inexpensive wooden one at a craft store and lending it your artistic flair through painting, decoupaging, and/or glossing.
6. Clock

You can make a clock out of just about anything; all you need is a clock kit (or an old clock) and a little imagination. Here are some ideas: old 45s, pictures of celebrities (your 13-year-old niece loves Taylor Lautner!), family photos... the possibilities are endless.
7. Fleece Blanket

These popular double-sided fleece blankets are simple and quick to make and entirely customizable. The best part is: no sewing! Great for the little ones! Do I see a Dora the Explorer blanket in your future?
