The tale of Nadya Suleman continues to take bizarre twists and turns. To recap, the 33-year-old had six children prior to birthing octuplets. She lives with her retired mother, Angela, is unpartnered, and has no current employment. Now, it has been revealed that three of her six other children are disabled and that she receives food stamps and SSI to provide for her kids. So why did Nadya want more babies, and why did a doctor perform in vitro fertilization on a woman who was barely supporting her other children?
In an interview with RadarOnline, Nadya's mother, Angela, calls Nadya's decision to have more children "unconscionable." Angela also revealed that Nadya visited more than one doctor in order to find someone willing to perform the procedure. Angela also claims that Nadya does little to actually care or provide for her children.
Angela Suleman said her daughter was irresponsible with money and ignored her retired mother's financial needs.
'The house is full of toys,' she said. 'My daughter has always spent a lot of money on toys and really not helping out with the children or the living arrangements - never paid anything for rent.'
All of these charges and new facts raise troubling questions. If Nadya is unemployed, then who paid for the IVF procedure and why? Shouldn't that money have gone to pay for food instead of more babies?
And why is Nadya so desperate for children? Does she have psychological problems, and should this now prompt doctors to perform psychological testing on mothers before they are implanted? And what is the responsibility of Nadya Suleman's doctor?
