Once in a while, potato chips, candy, and cake are super-delicious treats. But if you find your hand moving towards the pretzel bag more often than the crisper drawer, then you might have a problem. It's time to break the junk food habit. Healthful in means healthy out. So, how do you stop the snacking cycle?

1. Stop at the source
If you don't buy junk food, then you can't eat it. Never grocery shop when you're hungry, and you'll more easily skip fatty, sugary, and salty snacks.
2. Enlist your family
Don't let your family undermine your efforts. Communicate your goal, and ask for their help. You don't want your hubby bringing doughnuts into the house when you're working on diet; carrot sticks will never beat bostom cream.
3. Swap out the snacks
Switch out less healthful snacks for healthful ones. Fruit and veggies are great, as well as turkey slices, olives, yogurt, and low-fat cheese.
4. Water, water everywhere
Water will fill you up and keep you hydrated. When you feel the urge to eat, try drinking sweet H2O. Your urge just might dissipate.
5. Watch less TV
TV and junk food seem to go hand in hand. Plus, there are multitudes of food commercials. Avoid them by turning off the boob tube.
6. Keep a food journal
Track your food habits by writing down what you eat each day. You'll stay accountable to yourself (and you'll actually know what you're consuming!).
7. Moderation!
If you constantly deny yourself junk food, you will binge. Eating pie every once in a while is just fine. In fact, it's practically mandatory.
