I gave birth to triplets almost 5 months ago. I carried them to 36 weeks and 3 days with no complications and no bed rest. I delivered a whopping 16 1/2 pounds of baby boy. It wasn't the weight gain that got me -- though I did have my own gravitational pull by the end -- it was the almost 20 inches I put on my "waist." At 5'2" tall with a 48" waist, I was precariously close to becoming perfectly round.
I have stretch marks on my back, people! My belly button is finally starting to look like a belly button again, after coming within milimeters of having to be registered as a weapon. But I'm afraid there's no hope for the skin. From the belly button down, I look like one of Madame Tussaud's wax creations that's been left in the sun too long. I could be a serious contender against any Shar-pei on the planet.
My doc said the skin would be as good as it would get in about 6 months, and let me tell you, I've got a looong way to go in the next 30 days.
Bottom line? I'm proud of what this body did. I just wish my lower half wasn't a walking, drooping billboard announcing my efforts to the world.
