Kids will be kids, and they will transmit colds. So, we've culled some tips from sources around the Web to help you keep your children healthy.
- Wash Your Hands: It's the obvious tip, but it's imperative that kids develop good hand-washing habits so that they don't pick up communicable diseases. And it shouldn't be a little rinse, at least 30 seconds under hot water with soap!
- Don't Touch Your Nose or Eyes: That's the best way to catch a cold! The cold virus is spread primarily through hand-to-hand contact, and the cold virus enters most easily through the membranes in the eyes and nose. Teach your kids to keep their hands off their faces.
- Don't Share Cups: Though the virus is easily passed through the nose and eyes, it's better safe than sorry! Use paper cups instead if a child is sick.
- Sneeze Into Your Shoulder: Stop the spread of the cold virus by teaching your child to sneeze into his or her shoulder instead of the hands.
- Use Alcohol-Based Hand Sanitizers: They do a good job at keeping cold germs at bay when you can't get to a sink. Bath & Body Works carries delicious-smelling, foaming hand sanitizers for a reasonable price.
- Eat a Good Diet and Sleep Well: It's the basis for a healthy body. And during cold-and-flu season, it's a must!
