Thinking ahead to your summer travel plans?  Momversation has put together a list of five kid-friendly destinations in the U.S. that Mom and Dad just might like too.

5. Hershey, PA

"The Sweetest Place On Earth" is Hershey, Pennsylvania, the town built on chocolate... so how could you not love it?  It boasts Hersheypark with everything from an old-fashioned carrousel to thrill rides for the teens, and the slightly more mellow Dutch Wonderland theme park for the little ones.  For animal lovers, there's ZooAmerica and the Falconry Experience.  And, of course, there's Chocolate World, which really needs no description except for yummy!  Hershey also offers four "Family Stimulus Packages" for the budget conscious (and who isn't these days?)

 4. Yellowstone National Park

What better way to celebrate the beauty of the United States than in one of our great national parks?  Hiking, biking, boating, and picnicking are just some of the many activities available, and there is, of course, Old Faithful.  There are myriad places to stay, and travel packages are available.  Just be aware that there's wildlife afoot!

3. Colonial Williamsburg

Explore 301 acres of historic recreation and re-creation in Williamsburg, Virginia, including 88 18th century buildings.  Treat your family to living history while visiting ye olde homes, gardens, shops, and the Great Hopes Plantation, which accurately depicts slave life in the 1700s.  When it's time to relax, send your kids to the Colonial Kids Club, which provides special activities for the youngins while you zone out at the spa.

2. Sandestin Resort

In a beachy mood?  The Sandestin Resort in Destin, Florida takes the term "family friendly" seriously.  Situated on Florida's Emerald Coast, the Sandestin Resort's Family Values Program offers special rates and free amentities, including free bike and kayak rentals.  With white-sand beaches, golfing galore, and Kid Zone children's activities, the Sandestin is a great place for a summer vacation.

1.  Walt Disney World

It's the Kiddie Mecca: Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  Yes, it's the obvious choice for a family vacation, but it's obvious for a reason: it's awesome.  The Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon.  Plus, there are the resorts, Downtown Disney, the shows, the parades... it's not a theme park.  It's the theme park.  Besides, you don't want your kid to grow up and say, "My mom never took me to Disney World [sniffle]..." do you?

What family-friendly destinations do you recommend?
