Eco-Friendly Baby Products: The 6 Best
The first thing I noticed when reading the classic book “Goodnight Moon” to my son were those dark green walls in the baby rabbit’s room; yuck! Today’s “green” room is filled with earth-friendly products made from recycled and reusable materials to keep excess waste from landfills. Organic fabrics play their part too, since they aren’t treated with chemicals which affect the air and water supplies.

A growing demand for stylish yet responsible infant products has encouraged designers and manufacturers to think outside the plain, recycled cardboard box. The newest eco-friendly clothing, toys and related gear can be found in a wide range of price ranges. Here’s a round-up of our top picks:
1. Planet-friendly Playthings
Cloud B’s award-winning Twilight Turtle, Sleep Sheep and Lullawraps have made their way into the homes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Katie Holmes, and Angelina Jolie. Their new eco-friendly plush collection includes the Polar Cuddle Cub, made of soy fabric. The Dozy Dolphin and Dozy Dolphin On The Go are both constructed with a fabric made from bamboo, a fast-growing, sustainable material quickly making its way into the design of many consumer products.
2. Better Baths
PVC-free materials are better for the environment and can be used instead of traditional plastics. Case in point: the new collection of Bath Tub Toy Bags from the “Living Goods” line of o.r.e.. These multi-pocketed storage solutions come in four playful designs: Ahoy Matey!, Alphabet, Lady Bug, and Numbers. They’re made of mesh and frosted EVA, a safer PVC-free plastic alternative.
The organic line of Rich Frog infant products include frog and duck bath mitts. Just as cute are the slippers, reversible hats, blankie dolls, and “crinkler” duck, bunny and puppy toys, all made with 100% “Fair Trade” organic cotton.
