But Sarah Palin Did It!
Well, well, well. We have a woman who would be president, who calls out Barack Obama for using teleprompters, and she's using a cheat sheet during a Q&A session? A softball Q&A session? And she wrote it on her hand? What is Sarah Palin, a slightly stupid seventh grader?

I understand that being a politician is hard. You can't actually say what your opinions are because you might make someone mad (the horror!). So, you soften your rhetoric and get a little mushy about certain issues. But I sort of get the feeling that Ms. Palin isn't sidestepping her viewpoints; she simply doesn't have any. Oh, she might have a few simple ones, like "Abortion bad! Being rich, good!" But when it comes to more complex opinions, like those on policy, she simply doesn't have the grey matter to synthesize issues and formulate conclusions. Heck, she can't even remember the opinions she's obviously been spoonfed by other people; she has to write them on her palm, as if she's cheating on a French vocabulary quiz!
This is sad for three reasons. 1. She mocks Obama to the delight of her supporters, and then does him one worse scant time later. 2. She thinks she has the chops and the good ol' spirit to run arguably the most powerful nation on the planet. (Delusions are so sad.) And 3. Her supporters will ignore this and still support her. Because they've gotten really good at plugging their ears, closing their eyes, and shouting "La, la, la, la, la!" After all, they still voted for her even after that laughable Katie Couric interview, amongst other ridiculousness.
And that's not the job of the citizens of the country. Our job is to question, to root out the best person to lead us, to demand that our government representatives run our country in a smart, educated, and honest manner. It's not to be charmed by partisan slogans and snazzy eyewear. And at the end of the day, that's all Ms. Palin has to offer.

Maybe the Sharpie® company will offer her a lucrative job as spokesgal so she can bow out of politics. Wishful thinking?
