Climbing a mountain. Hangliding. Traveling to China. What are the items on your bucket lists, the lists of things you want to do before you kick the bucket? Or have you not even thought about it? And is it more interesting to learn about others' lists than to make your own? Maggie Mason of Mighty Girl asks, "What's on your bucket list?"

I do have a bucket list of sorts, although it's still kind of short and still evolving. You can see the first version here: http://www.strocel.com/mondo-beyondo/
I will say that even giving myself permission to put a voice to my dreams was huge and life-changing. It has brought up things that I'd forgotten about for a really long time. I started this exercise about 6 months ago, and in that time I feel like I have developed a newfound freedom and learned who I really am. It is an amazing gift, and for me its worth every little bit of vulnerability that I felt in writing it.

Interesting timing for this subject.
I just spent two weeks in the hospital and a found myself questioning my mortality and the future of my children. I though scary things and practical things, got mad at myself for not having a will or a plan to keep my daughters from becoming orphans etc... But in my fear and fever induced delirium, I mostly stressed out about the huge pile of dirty laundry I had had put off washing all week, and felt horrified knowing that a friend or neighbour was doing it for me. Bless her heart.
My goal this week...my list.

My list is on my blog at http://www.thepsychomama.blogspot.com

Okay, I wrote my comment before watching the whole video.
I want to do a full turn in a kayak too! I've only done a wet exit. Not convenient, really.
Also, Alice, I just want to do one pull-up. Why can't I do even one?! Aim low, Alice. That's the secret of life. Aim low and then keep adding goals.
My list was pretty easy to make but I included simple things, too, so I could cross them off with a feeling of wha-ha!
Honestly, I do have larger goals I could put on there, more places I want to see. But again, I think it's good to start at a more manageable level and then keep dreaming from there.

I made a life list about that time, too. I called mine Things I Want to Do Before I'm Dead/Crazy/Quadriplegic but Typepad wouldn't let me keep the title so long. I have about 100 things on mine but I'm not going to limit it to that. I just keep adding as I want.
Mine is different from yours, probably, Maggie because it includes things like "Never go to Disneyland/World"-- something that will take my whole life. Easy though. :-)
My list is here: http://www.becomingsomething.com/ Happy to have crossed off visiting London but didn't run into Jude Law or make him fall in love with me. YET.

I've had things I wanted to do floating around in my head for a long time. It wasn't until I watched this episode of Momversation that I decided to take the time and actually write them down. Thanks for the inspiration!

I think this is a great idea. I have not done it but I will sit down and try in the next couple of weeks. Like Karen, I have a list in the back of my head. I just wanted to say that it's important to realize that this list should be an organic and malleable thing. I doubt anyone can write a static list that will just not change until they check off that last little item.
You can't imagine what will be on your final list of what you have actually done that counts as the most magical experiences of your life. I went to China a long time ago and got to see a pack of baby pandas wrestling each other and fighting over the water coming out of a little faucet. I think about it to this day. I was five feet away from them. I could not have thought to put that on a list but when it happened, I knew that I would never forget the energy of that moment. Another example would be a huge, hollowed out tree that was out in a local game park when I was a PCV in Zambia, that was called a "bat tree". I stood in the middle of it with tiny bats flying above me like a swarm of bees. I could feel the air coming off of their little wings and I felt that same magic. Again, I could NEVER have thought to put that on a list.
I don't know. I think that little moments like that can often be far more meaningful that just checking off that you have "jumped from a plane" or "climbed Mt. Everest". Of course, that's just me.

When I was in high school or college I wrote a list. It had things on it like ride in a hot air balloon, New York for Christmas/ New Years, DC for 4th of July... things like this. I wish I could find that list.
Now that I know more about myself, my list would look quite different if I wrote it down. It would revolve experiencing the world. I think we learn the most when we are traveling and outside of our element and comfort zone.

I created a Life List after being inspired by Maggie. I figure that the first step to meeting your goals is to fully commit to them. So my list is in the column of my blog at http://not-so-deepthoughts78.blogspot.com/ and I am working, very slowly, at checking things off. One of my smaller goals is to try different types of fish. I never thought I liked to eat fish, but I find that my tastes have changed now that I am older and it is time to broaden my horizons. My biggest and probably the hardest to achieve item on my list to be a work-at-home or stay-at-home mom, for at least a part of my kids life. With our financial situation I doubt that will happen, but I would love it if I could be there for my son any time he needed me all day long.

I could write a list... like the rest of you girlies I think I've got a few things in my head but I'll tell you the thing that first pops into my head when I think about writing a list: I'm worried about list plagiarizing!
I'm a mightygirl lurker for sure... but I've never read her Mighty Life List in its entirety, because ---- what if I look at it and like... wanna steal 75 of her 100 things? Then people would be all, "That's someone else's life, " and I would feel crap.
GRRR. Tortured, tormented. For now might just be safer to stay in little maternity leave bubble and aspire to getting all the way to bedtime without ripping out chunks of my own hair. ;-)

I have had the list in my head for a long time. I am a part of Mondo Beyondo this month and have written down my list...remarkably frightening and freeing at the same time. Now I have to put some time frames around them.
Some have to do with my fears (trusting others, asking for forgiveness) and some are just things I want to do or places I want to visit (skydive, get in shape, go to Nepal, visit the Galapagos Islands). I am not brave enough to post the entire list here...perhaps I should add that to my list...number 31 can be learn to be brave enough to post your life list in a public place!
Oh...I went to Vieques and swam in the Bay....EVERYONE should do it!
