How do you balance your time online and offline?

With all the stuff moms have to get done in the real world, how do you balance your online time and your offline, real-world time? When do you know you're spending too much time online? What are your tips for other moms?

This is definitely an important issue that I've seen many moms struggle with over the years (and of course have struggled with myself!!).
Sometimes you need to go "cold turkey" and just unplug for a while (vacations are good for that! it can be good to resist the temptation to bring your laptop along!!! lol). Sometimes setting a time limit is best. Or you can focus on quality instead of quantity - think about what really benefits you and re-charges your batteries or feels fun instead of just trying to absorb anything and everything that you surf by.
I find good places to "invest" your time are communities where you can form bonds and friendships that will be long-lasting. Choose a common ground that's not something fleeting. I'm still friends with women I met in a pregnancy group in 1998 and now our kids are all turning 10 at the same time.
One "alarm bell" to watch for - if you find that your kiddo wants your attention and you're like "Just a second" frequently (and the seconds turn into minutes), you might need to step away from the screen for a bit and get on the carpet and play some Legos instead. :P
