How long did it take you to lose the pregnancy weight?

How long did it take you to lose the baby weight? Or are you still working (or not working on it)? Do you think there's too much pressure on moms to get back to their pre-pregnancy weight?

Lose the weight? I would love to say that I am working on it but I really have not been. I nursed my son for the first 13 months of his life and I lost weight fairly quickly. But once I stopped nursing I made the mistake of continuing to eat the same way. Now I am at the point where I need to exercise and start making healthy choices regarding food. I don't feel any pressure to do anything about my weight because my husband is happy with the way I look and actually likes it. I on the other hand recognize that I need to make changes.

I'm so glad that Rebecca said that about breastfeeding, because that's exactly how it happened with me. I actually lost all my baby weight (about 25 pounds) within four weeks of my son being born.... but then i quickly gained it back plus another 20 because i was so ravenous all the time from breastfeeding! I TRIED, i swear i tried so hard to stop eating so much, but it never worked, i still ate like a hippo as long as i was lactating.
I stopped breastfeeding my son when he was 9 1/2 months old... and within two days of stopping breastfeeding, my appetite diminished completely and I was able to diet and it has now been a month and I've lost 15 pounds! I'm hoping the rest will continue to fall off. I don't really work out though, I'm sure that would help, too :)

I only breastfed for 6 weeks after each of my pregnancies, so that is not what helped me shed the weight... After my first pregnancy, I was so stressed out (since there was an all out war in my country of origin and MY Hubbie was there) that I lost the weight real quickly (one month after giving birth I was back to my 130 pounds self), I was not even thinking about it then.
My second pregnancy, that is another story, 3 months after I still have 25+ pounds to shed. I am in shock but I guess working out and eating right is the key to all weight loss

I was weighing less than my pre-pregnancy weight when my baby was four months because I didn’t have time to eat as much as I needed to keep more weight on, I didn’t have any help and I was exhausted. Skinnier with more boobage. It was nice while it lasted.

I am still about 10kg heavier than pre-pregnancy (I think that is over 20pounds? Not sure though). My boy is 2 now but I am still breastfeeding. I am hoping I am one of those people the weight falls off once breastfeeding is finished!

I am still trying to lose the weight and baby is 9 months old now.

I've lost a bit, but am struggling to find the time and energy to get on top of it. I'm getting there... slowly!

I still breastfeed and all is does is make me starving especially because I am still feeding many times overnight. (I know, bad!)

I was back down to my pre-pregnancy weight about 3-4 months after having kids both times. To be honest, I think what made losing the weight the easiest was the fact that due to my job (I'm a dance teacher), I had no choice but to remain active up until the end of pregnancy... so getting back into exercise post-baby was fairly easy. I gained 47 pounds both times, so it's not like I was one of those lucky people who only had 25 pounds to shed (LOL!).

I breastfed both my girls (still nursing my little one), drank a lot of water, exercised daily (starting slow, of course), and ate well. For me, the weight loss was fairly gradual and consistent after the initial "holy-cow-I-just-gave-birth-to-a-9-pounder-plus-placenta-and-water-weight" 15 pounds.

To answer your last question, I didn't have a lot of external pressure to lose the weight, but I had a lot of internal pressure to get back in shape. I wanted to wear my old clothes again, and I didn't have the money to buy a whole new wardrobe! However, I do think society pressures women to look perfect soon after having a baby. Heck, even on TV commercials moms of new babies are played by skinny, barbie-doll women.

It will take some 3-4 months but for me it took complete 6 months to lose weight.

I love telling this story because people just smirk and give me dirty looks...

I went into the hospital to have my daughter only gaining 25 lbs... Weighing a whopping 140 when I checked into the hospital on her due date. She was born at 10:21am... by 4:00am the next morning, I was down to 124. I was below my pre-pregnancy weight within 4 weeks, and felt awesome!

I was also 20 years old.. I have a feeling I wont be so lucky the next time around.

I think there SHOULD be some pressure to return to a HEALTHY weight. Many women gain the wrong kind of weight while they're pregnant from over indulging just because their pregnant... Its not healthy to eat McDonald's french fries or greasy pizza or chocolate donuts everyday for 9 months just because you're pregnant. Its not good for you or your baby.

Well for me i lost my baby weight really really quickly. After i had my c-section a week later i went to get weighed and somehow i had allready lost 9 pounds.

My doc said that it was because i had a c-section. I had gained 35 pounds during preggo and now my daughter is 4 months i'm back to my normal big ole 115 pounds.

I think there is alot of pressure for moms to get back to their pre-pregancy weight. And these hollywood stars don't help. But everyone should figure out whats the healtiest weight for them

It would take some 3-4 months to loose the weight with proper exercise and food given to the body.
