What is my child doing now? He (she) is screaming all of a sudden, not listening to me. Whats going on?

My Son Asher, he turned 2 in Aug. He has been Mr. Independant since about 4 days ago. I work out of my in-laws house, so he goes to work with me. I am with him all day which I love. But like i said lately he has been all about mommy. We have a gate up so he can't come in the office and destroy it, he stands at the gate screaming for me and holding out his arms. I can usually go out there for a few mins. and comfort him, but then when I get up to come back in the office he starts screaming again. I don't know why? He never acts like this. He usually goes to his nana above me most of the time, but he would even scream with her when she picked him up, he wants only me 24/7 now. HELP!! Please! He's wearing me out with this.

Had you been working the whole time while he was Mr. Independent? Have you always been "on the other side of the gate", or is this new. I would think that'd be terrifying for a two year old. Mine's 2 and a couple months and while she just recently became much more independent, she's not fearless. She still needs me to be available to her as a top priority.

I'm sure you can figure out a way to make it work for both of you. Two year olds want to do the right thing, they just don't always know what it is.

Cornflake Girl

When my oldest was this age he would do the same thing. He would throw himself on the floor and just scream as loud as he could. Well one day I could not take it anymore and I looked at him and said "I am bigger then you and I can scream a lot louder then you can." He just kept one screaming so I looked and him and screamed right back.

He was so startled he just looked and me finally said "Mommy, why you scream like that." I tried to explain why he should not scream anymore and if he continued to do it then so would I.

That was the end of his screaming days.
