I started a children craft business with a friend of mine about 5 years ago. One thing I would say is that you have to do something that you enjoy. If you are going to stay home and work then it has to be something that is worth it.

Also, you have to set time aside to work on you business. This can be very hard because you have kids running around and they want to spend time with you. My children are all in school now, but I found that when they took naps worked best for me. I also found that having a business partner helps me as well. I would probably never get anything done if I did not have her.

If you are really interested in starting a business just try it. Do not get to frustrated because they are a lot of work, you can do it.

I have a home painting studio and a 13 month old daughter. My husband and I didn't get childcare until she was about 11 months old. The first thing I learned is that your childcare must be outside your home; and that to get anything done efficiently you must have childcare! All those people who said to me, Oh wow, you work at home, that's so great because you can be home with the baby...well, they have no idea. People seem to think working at home is reclining on a daybed eating parfait sundaes. I am busy, I work on deadline, I pay a mortgage. My husband and I both work at home and we've managed between the two of us, but it had been difficult and puts a strain on the relationship. Once we started a nannyshare with some friends it was like a huge weight was lifted from our shoulders.
