Alexander McQueen Found Dead

Today, we're mourning the loss of the "enfant terrible" fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

"His brilliant imagination knew no bounds as he conjured up collection after collection of extraordinary designs. At one level he was a master of the fantastic, creating astounding fashions shows that mixed design, technology and performance and on another he was a modern day genius whose gothic aesthetic was adopted by women the world over. His death is the hugest loss to anyone who knew him and for very many who didn't," said a statement from [Alexandra] Shulman on the [British Vogue's] Web site.

But Sarah Palin Did It!

Well, well, well.  We have a woman who would be president, who calls out Barack Obama for using teleprompters, and she's using a cheat sheet during a Q&A session?  A softball Q&A session?  And she wrote it on her hand?  What is Sarah Palin, a slightly stupid seventh grader...?

Palin's PAC Bought $63 Million of Going Rogue

The good ol' honest Sarah Palin didn't sell quite as many copies of her book Going Rogue as it appeared.  Turns out, Palin's PAC spent $63,000 on copies of the former governor's tome.  That's a lot of down home wisdom.  Just how much?  According to the Huffington Post:

It depends. Without knowing how much sales tax was paid on the books or if the former governor bought them at a bulk rate, Palin's group could have bought anywhere from 2,173 (at suggested full retail price of $28.99) to 4,666 copies (at a steeply discounted Amazon rate of $13.50).

Explaining Haiti to My Daughter

One day last week, as an after-school treat my first-grader and I popped into the local diner for a grilled-cheese sandwich and – Isabella’s favorite part – a coveted counter seat. Inevitably, the TV suspended on the wall above our heads was on, tuned to Fox. As background noise goes, Dr. Oz is pretty harmless, but after a while Isabella and I both happened to look up as a promo for the evening news came on. And there, flashing on the screen, were images of the devastation in Haiti...

John Edwards: Scumbag?
