ETA...I just realized that you can only have one entry into the contest. I didn't realize that and was just trying to share another helpful hint and thought this was more of a conversation topic. Please remove this post from consideration from the contest but I will leave it up just in case anyone needs the helpful hint. It REALLY does work. I just remembered one more McGyver move today (after having to use it). I have an older car which has issues starting every once in awhile. My favorite trick which works 9 times out of 10 is to get a can of Coke and pour it on the battery cables where the cable meets the battery. The coke eats away the acid erosion giving it a better connection and will usually get the car up and running again and get me to where I can go get it checked out. It is scary to think of drinking something that will eat away battery acid. When my husband and I were first married he was having a hard time jumping off my car and getting it to start I went and got a can of Coke and it worked. He thought I was crazy now he uses that almost every time.

Have dry skin? Olive oil works great to moisturize your skin. I even use olive oil in my hair as a conditioner before I shampoo it like normal. Leaves my hair shiny and my skin smooth.

If you have a dish, pot or pan that's got crud stuck to it so fiercely that you think it's unsalvageable, try covering the cruddy surface with lots and lots of salt. Be very generous with the salt. Let the salted, cruddy kitchenware sit overnight, then rinse the salt off and let the item soak in warm water for a while. After it's had a chance to soak, hand wash the cruddy dish/pot/pan as you normally would and it should be back to its former, useable state. This works really well -- even when food appears to be hopefully burned onto your pots & pans.

I have one more simple solution for sorting kids' clothes and it only uses a sharpie marker. I have 3 kids who all attend the same school, with the same uniform. Sometimes clothing label sizes run small or run big, so using sizes to sort clothes never works for me. I was having a hard time keeping track of whose shirts were whose. I didn't want to label the clothes with initials because when I would move the clothes down to the next kid, I didn't want to have to scratch out initials from one kid and write more for another. So, now I take the shirts and for the 1st kid, I write l on the collar by the seam in the back of the neck (near the tag). For the second kid I write ll and for the third kid I write lll. When the clothes go down to the next kid, I just add a line to the collar and now the clothes all get into their right piles!

I always use 1 part white vinigar and 1 part distilled water to remove carpet and fabric furniture stains. It is AMAZING because it lifts stains like a bleach without discoloring carpet/fabrics. Also, it completly removes smells (for animal mess or kid up-chuck). Billz! Everyone that has tried it once keeps a bottle in their house.

Oh wow I never knew this till the other day. Keep a small bottle of Listerine with you and when your little one gets ant bites just rub that on them and it takes the sting right out of it. Awesome and you will smell fresh too. LOL
