ME:
before: graphic designer/art director, wife
after: mother to 17 month old ruby, wife
MY STYLE:
before: department stores and small boutiques, love patterns, high heels, and accessories
after: maternity clothes not out of necessity but out of frugality (our house went from 2 incomes to 1 income) for 17 months now, i feel like i've been slowly been losing my leaves. i'd say i did a pretty good job of maintaining my personal style throughout my pregnancy but the real trouble began following the birth of our lovely daughter, ruby james. while the pounds shed relatively quickly so did my sense of self, what i liked and basically, what i needed to do to make myself look good and therefore, feel good. my thought process was - and still seems to
be - babybabybabyhusbandbabyhusbandbabybabybabyme... same story, different mom, right? well, i've settled into my new role as a mom but not necessarily my new identity. how can a woman that used to accessorize an outfit like nobody's business now have no business accessorizing? and why did i buy that vanity anyway, it's not like i spend hours in front of the mirror anymore deliberating over which colored eyeliner to wear, i'm lucky if i get my brows on before the midget starts to get all handsy. anyway, the bottomline is, that i along with thousands of other moms, think i deserve a second chance at not just looking good, but FEELING GOOD.
