Amy Vaughn
My name is Amy. I am a 30-year-old mother of 2. After having my son in 2007 (a 9 pounder!!), I had trouble taking off the weight. Despite staying active and eating right, I actually gained weight – rapidly! I was extremely fatigued and disinterested in my family. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and now have to be on daily medication for the rest of my life. While working to regulate my medicine, my weight continued to fluctuate. I now have a wardrobe of clothes varying from sizes 6 to 12, with the majority being in the 10-12 range. Most of my clothes hang on me and I feel so sloppy.
My husband just started his first year teaching at a local middle school, my daughter just started preschool, my son is beginning potty-training, I am taking college classes and we have seriously outgrown our little starter home and are looking for a new house! I try to get my school work done at work (I am so fortunate that since they reimburse for school, work feels it is important for me to do well) and we are constantly active in family outings. I have very little time for myself, and do not have the money to revamp my wardrobe…did I mention shoes – since having kids, my feet have grown 2 and a half sizes!
I would really love to win this makeover to get clothes that fit, clothes that are in style and appropriate for my age (not too young, not too old)…AND shoes!!

I too have Thyroid issues and I feel for you. Sometimes things go back to normal with your Thyroid so don't feel like this disease will be forever. I had Hyperthyroidism that turned into Hypothyroidsm and then it just vanished after a few years of daily medication. My thyroid level is now normal but I still have the levels checked every three months.
I know the anguish that this disease brings and I am praying for you! You are a beautiful woman!!!!

Thanks, Claire! I was amazed at how much it affected my life. I am starting to feel normal now and am thankful for finding out what was wrong! I have heard, especially when you get it right after having a child, that it could go away -- that would be nice!
