On Friday, June 15, 2012, Nik Wallenda, a seventh-generation descendant of the famed family of aerialists known as the "Flying Wallendas", fulfilled his childhood dream of crossing over the Niagara Falls on a tightrope, becoming the first person to complete this feat. With his passport and a 40-lb balancing pole, Wallenda made the walk from the U.S. side of the falls to the Canadian shore, an 1,800 feet journey, in a little more than 25 minutes.
