Cafe Mom's series 'Our Special Life' profiles families facing challenges as they raise children with special needs. In this video, we meet Lori, mom to 5-year-old Emma. Emma was born with underdeveloped eyes, meaning she is not fully blind as can perceive some light and color. While Emma will need modifications in her life -- walking with a cane, reading and writing in Braille, etc. -- Lori refuses to treat her any differently. As such, Emma attends classes with sighted children and participates in gymnastics and Girl Scouts like many of her peers. Truly inspiring!
